Venice Biennale

Double-billed at the world’s most famous architecture exhibition, the 2008 Venice Biennale of Architecture

Rebar was honored to present two separate projects at the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennale in Italy. At the “Into the Open” exhibition in the American Pavilion,  a 7-foot square supergraphic and a video represented our Panhandle Bandshell project as an American project that, in the words of the curators, “explores the original ways architects today are working collaboratively to invigorate community activism and environmental policy.”

At the Italian Pavilion, PARK(ing) Day was on display in the context of an exhibition entitled “Out There: Architecture Beyond Buildings.” Though we entertained preliminary dreams of setting up a functioning public park within the Italian Pavilion, our presentation comprised an entire wall of fake grass with a video monitor displaying documentation from PARK(ing) Day installations from around the globe.
